It’s that time of year when temperatures are regulating and you know the cold weather is gone for good. Soon, you will begin to put your winter clothes away and bringing your summer clothes out. While making this transition take it as an opportunity to go through your clothes pulling out any you haven’t worn or didn’t like wearing during the season. You see your closet should be reserved for clothes that make you happy. Your I look good clothes, not the my body sucks clothes. We wear about 20% of our clothes 80% of the time. Don’t believe it? Well, I received confirmation this past winter when I gained so much weight that none of my clothes fit. I survived wearing 5 different pairs of pants. Although I had a number of shirts/blouses and jackets that fit, I pretty much wore the same 10 or so shirts. Don’t be afraid to get rid of those items that you don’t really like…I promise you will be so much happier with the items you know look good on you. You then can make a list of items you feel are missing from your wardrobe to purchase at a later date.
How to do slim your closet down:
My process for slimming my closet went like this, I took each item in my winter section and reviewed them based on the criteria above. If they made the cut they were added to the back of the closet. I then went through the spring/summer items with the same eye and added the keep clothes to the front of my closet. I went through each article of clothing asking myself if I really liked it. I removed any that I knew the answer was really no…and prepared them for donation. The key to remember is it will be so much easier to get dressed when you have a closet of happy clothes. So, go now and slim your closet.
